Why are Heart Rate Variability (HRV), Respiratory Sinus Arrhythmia (RSA) so important?

Updated 3 years ago by Team

Over 20,000 prominent studies from the most prestigious research centers have established HRV and RSA as some of the most promising methods of screening overall health and deriving key metrics about your health and vitality.

Simply put, low values for these markers are associated with decreased activity, aging, a broad range of medical conditions - diabetes, cancers... decreased hormonal tonus, increased cardiovascular risk, etc.

HRV and RSA can be stimulated by breathing at the particular frequency of 0.1 Hz, which proved to yield, in just 5 minutes, quality data that compare and even surpass standardized stimuli experiments such as stroop color word test, public or videotaped speaking task, cold pressor test and other clinical stimuli used to acquire physiological signal for statistical validation.
